Best Things to Do in Boston in Winter
Winter in Boston is like no other time of the year. From the twinkling lights along the harbor and storefronts, to couples bundled up as they stroll along the cobblestone streets of Beacon Hill, to ice skating, the season creates a truly memorable backdrop. Come see for yourself and check out our list of the top things to do this winter.
Ice Skate at Kelly Outdoor Rink
This family-friendly outdoor ice skating rink is one of only a few spots open to the public for ice skating in the Boston area this season. Skating is free and skate rentals are easy on the wallet. Whether you’re looking for a fun winter activity with the family or dying to live out your rom com fantasy with your special someone, this is a must.
Order Up Some Clam Chowder
Boston is home to some of New England’s best seafood and nothing will warm you up from the winter chill like a bowl of fresh, hot New England Clam Chowder. With some of the city’s restaurants now opening back up safely, including our own Rebel’s Guild aiming to re-open soon, it’s a great way to warm up after a day spent exploring.
Snowshoe at Gore Place
Just outside of downtown Boston, this 50-acre country estate invites adventurers to strap on a pair of snowshoes and explore the snow-covered grounds. If you don’t have snowshoes, you can rent some from the Carriage House. Or, if you have your own pair, feel free to explore Boston Common and other city parks for a closer adventure.
Stroll the Freedom Trail
The Freedom Trail is always a must-see spot for anyone visiting Boston, and in the winter it’s even more magical. Often lit up with decorations or lights, this historic trail makes for a great photo op when it’s snow covered. Make stops at the Massachusetts State House, Old South Meeting House, and Old State House as you enjoy a wintery stroll.
Sip Boston’s Best Hot Chocolate
You can find the best hot chocolate in all of Boston just 10 minutes away from Revere Hotel. L.A. Burdick Handmade Chocolates has been serving up gourmet chocolate and specialty drinks in Back Bay for years. If hot chocolate isn’t your thing, you can always warm up with a hot cup of Devoción coffee or Mariage Frères tea.
With so much to see and explore this winter, and the guidelines in place to make it safe, Boston offers a much-needed change of pace from the day today. And if you’re looking to book a well-deserved staycation, you can check out some of the city’s most striking winter sights within walking distance of our hotel, including Boston Common with its iconic monuments, sprawling fields, and public garden. We’re ready to welcome you back, safely.
